Provisional Certification in the state of Georgia You did not say which state you will be living in after you move. If you were staying in Georgia you would apply to the Georgia Department of Education...Certification and Records Division. You can find the address on line. I know it is in Atlanta. They will then look at your credentials and determine that you can get a provisional certification. I believe a provisional certification is good for one year and you have to be working toward getting a regular certification. There are a few rules that apply. When you have met the requirements for a regular certificate it will be changed. For a job you apply to your local Board of Education in the city you are wishing to teach. I retired from public schools in Georgia three years ago after 34 years. I am now teaching PreK. I am in the process right now of renewing my certification. Good luck with getting certified and with your teaching career. Belinda |
