I was a high school science teacher. I loved it! I just retired, which I also love, but working with high school age students is so wonderful. I still teach English at a community college nearby. That's my favorite subject to teach. You're just going to love it.
In NYC, you go to the school in your power suit, ask to see the principal, and, if you get to see her/him talk yourself up and provide a glowing upbeat resume.
If the principal isn't in, try to make an appointment. Best case scenario - see the principal in person. Mid case scenario - talk to the AP, especially if the English Dept. has its' own AP. Worst case scenario - if you absolutely can't get to see anyone - leave your resume and call the following week. I would do it soon before the school year is over.
Good luck and keep us posted. |
