I'm sorry, dieselboy, that you and your pup are having to go through this. My advice, though, is to try not to panic. I think your vet is being an alarmist when he/she says that your pup has to have surgery within a week to prevent arthritis. That's just plain silly.

Interpret that comment to mean that your pup needs surgery as soon as possible, not within a week. That will take some of the pressure off of you.
