To help the immediate plite of the poor little fellas in puppy and kitty prison, offer to volunteer to help clean the cages. I would also work with this Mom and Pop shop and maybe help educate them and encourage them to stop selling puppies -- or at the very least buy healthy pups and kittens from reputable breeders.
If they agreed to let you volunteer, at leat the babies there NOW would not suffer quite so much. Sometimes setting a quiet example works better than getting your tail feathers riled up and screaming. If you can change this one pet shop, then you have done a HUGE good deed.

WOW Chattiesmom! That is a GREAT idea!! This is a very small store- so they may be open to letting me volunteer. I held the one little Yorkie in my arms the other day and my heart was breaking- it is so sad to see them in these conditions. If I can be a small spot of sunshine in these babies lives, then I will feel like I have truly made a difference in this world!
