My advice? If it were me I would get him the puppy, sounds like he needs new life and hope right now. When a loved one gets sick the heart cries to help them in whatever way possible and when they're gone it's too late. If you can do anything to make his life better - do it. Things will all work out in the end. My husband wouldn't ask for a thing and how I wish I could have given him something to help him out. I'm sure your vet would work something out with you on bills, mine is helping me out and letting me make payments on Lida Rose, and the funny thing about love is, the more you give away the more you seem to have!
