Rhapsody was easy to train. She was already crate trained, so it was just a matter of using the crate at night, and if we were gone from the house for an hour or two. Then I'd take her out every two hours; also her I'm about to go potty signals were very easy to spot.
Tiger has been more difficult. He hates his crate (when the door is closed); it's his refuge and where he stores his toys and bones when the door is open. So night time was always difficult; he'd cry and cry (we tried the crate at night for 2 months, and he'd cry half the night). Finally we gave up the crate at night; we had to sleep. Now he's pretty good; still has accidents though. Especially if I vacumn; I try to make sure he's always outside before I vacumn. . . he thinks it's a monster, and no, we've never chased him with it, lol. (I've actually had people ask me that before.)
So it definately depends I think on the Yorkie and also the kind of home/environment they come from. |
