I agree with everyone that said that this is cruel and should be banned! There are some people that I'd like to "debark", but never a dog! I feel that its is the owner's responsiblity to research the breed before they adopt the dog as some breeds are more prone to barking.... and if they don't, then they have to take the time to learn training methods so that their dogs don't become "yappers."
To the person that said "some people live in a condo, apt, etc...."
I live in a condo and my neighbor is blind, so she has an extremely heightened sense for sounds... It never entered my mind to debark my dogs... It was my responsiblity to train my dogs not to "yap" so that they son't bother my neighbors! Its in a dog's nature to bark if they hear a strange sound to warn me, but other than that, I don't like or tolerate yapping, so I took the time to train them not to bark for no reason. To this day, my neighbor has never once complained of my dogs barking. |
