Yorkies CAN be hard to potty train, but so can poodles, bichons, matlese, Golden Retrievers etc. Point being, it really depends on the owners dedication, persistence and such as well as the individual dog. DO your research (sounds like you have) and have a plan, have a backup plan incase that ones doesn't work! I have a larger Yorkie so he started out litterbox trained but is now fully trained to the outside. I have a new Biewer puppy he is almost 6mos (I got him at almost 5mos) he is doing good. I've had a few accidents (mainly my fault), and he is being crate trained and ONLY to outside. Little dogs are hard in the sense often you can potty train them but they are not good at telling you WHEN they need to go outside. I just run my dogs out every hr or so, I go out and MAKE sure they do go. There are instances where even after a year a dog isn't trained, and then some that are fully trained much earlier, just depends. I would say potty training and getting through the puppy stage in general is the most difficult, fun, and rewarding time. You will want to cry in frustration, and laugh out of pure joy..
