I had a foster Yorkie girl come to me in a terrible medical condition. Bloody stools and had been given lots of medication for one thing or another. Poor little girl was in such a bad way. I took her off of all medications and dog foods that people had been feeding her. I put her on white rice and free range beef. She started feeling better and after a couple of weeks she was running, playing and had normal stools. Over the course of 8 more months, I tried different meats and different veggies, and of course eggs, fish, oatmeal, yogurt and such to see what she could eat and what she could not eat. I finally had a list of things she could tolerate without having bloody runs, so off she went to her forever mom in PA. After a couple of months her mom decided to feed her some such dog food that a Vet. recommended. She called crying that Jenny had bloody stools. I told her about the list of food she should stay on, so she went back to feeding what works. Then she tried a new "special" dog food for sensitive stomachs and back comes the blood. She finally went to an holistic Vet. who told her that what I had written down for Jenny to eat was perfect and for her to stick with that. Everything is normal and happy with Jenny and her mom.
These Yorkies can have the most incrediable sensitive intestinal tracks of any dog I've ever known.
You need to feed a bland diet. Good luck to you and your baby. |
