Here is the trick. Dog will not starve herself. If he does not eat after you mix the food take the food back and give it again in the afternoon/evening. Once they feel hungry, they will eat and have more regular appetite. I was food shopping for my pup and at the end I just let her hunger for 1-2 days. After that she reliaze that if she does not eat she will be hungry, so she starts eating regularly. I do not feed her much for dinner, so she will know that she has to earn the treat in the evening if she does not want to starve. I would watch out carefully and make sure your dog is not sick or hypoglycemic since he is still very young. |
It's hard to do but your pup won't starve.... mine would never eat his dry food at first and I would spend forever concocting things i thought he'd like only to have him sniff them and walk away! How rude!

anyway, I read some post on here and talked to some long time dog owners which said that dogs can hold out if they think they are going to get something better, but they won't starve themselves, eventually they will eat. so i decided to get brave and not give in. it only took a day and now he eats his dry food fine. I am in the process of deciding what to feed him (got 5 samples) he seems to like them all but I am leaning towards Artemis small breed puppy or Merrick's puppy plate. good luck!
