Cry When is vomiting serious?

Poor Abbie threw up at least 10 times last night. It started after I fed her dinner of Canidae. Now I added to that a tablespoon of Campbells Soup beef with vegetables and barley because it's a new food for her and I'm having a tough time getting her to eat it. I'm having to hand feed her piece by piece. She threw it all up shortly after and then retched and retched until there was nothing left but bile and foam. After a while she calmed down but I didn't want her to go without food all night and thought maybe a bit of turkey would stay down. So I gave her that and she started again! So I went to look at the soup and guess what? Wheat gluten! Is it possible? Abbie is so thin she has no reserves if she gets sick. How do I know when it's just a tummy upset and when it's serious? Thanks in advance for any feedback.
