What worked best for him was the bathroom with his crate and bed and some food and water. I use a clear plastic baby gate, no holes for climbing. He will be one years old next month and he still goes in the bathroom and waits in his bed for is treat then goes to sleep. The baby gate is great because he can look out and doesn't feel so lock up. Good luck with your baby it does get easier and these babies are so worth it!
you know I didn't even think about keeping him in the bathroom with the plastic baby gate Does Peanut do well in staying in the bathroom? It's prob easier to clean than the kitchen huh? Do you leave the light on in the bathroom when you leave, do you cover his crate so that he can go in there and sleep too(during the day)? Has peanut ever escaped from the bathroom? what kind of baby gate did you get because if that worked for you then maybe I'll get that for my bathroom.

Thanks!
