Um, sometimes people miss that spot because they are so careful not to get too close to the eyes and ears, but if you are washing that particular part then perhaps it not because he's dirty. Have you called the vet? When I bathe Holly, she'll smell like shampoo for like three days. Then she'll start smelling like food and like doggies usually do.
Is it a foul odor? Could it be the smell of the food that sticks to the part around her mouth?
Keep us posted. I hope you find the cause of it soon.
