Having dealt with coccidia - I feel for you. Bless your little ones - I'm very sorry for your loss. Sounds like your husband is a very thoughtful, caring man.

Try not to be too hard on yourselves. It is easily miss diagnosed.

Some vets "take" a sample and smear it on a slide - needless to say this will be a very small amount of feces and may not contain the organisim.

When we dealt with it, we took in 5 samples taken over a 12 hour period. All of the samples were put into a testing jar with liquid, spun out and tested via a "float" test.

When they do the float test, all of the organisims in the sample will float to the top making them really hard to miss.

Obviously this is a better way to test since coccidia is so hard to find sometimes.
