Usually by 6 to 7 weeks you can determine if they are pregnant (visually). Some carrying only one pup may be real hard to determine(visually).
There is always ultrasound early in the pregnancy as a way of determining if in fact there is a pregnancy.... or at around 8 weeks an xray can be done.
