I totally agree. It is the same way here. We have always had animals as house pets and have also had quite a variety of them. People used to be amazed that we had: hamsters, rabbit, cats, birds, fish, dogs, assorted other reptiles, etc.,---all in one household and everyone got along--- and no one tried to kill anyone else.
If your animals are well loved and secure in their home; and you do not make a big deal out of a new family member--whether it be human or animal; everything will work out naturally. Everyone figures their place out pretty quickly.
