I have spent a small fortune on my animals over the years. Some of my former friends would make the comment of ,"It's Only A Dog". That is why they are former friends. My animals are my kids. The only difference is that they have a little more hair and have four legs. I have heard of people getting rid or killing their animals just because they are sick. I can't even picture people like that making good parents.
