I took Copper for a walk around the block the other day and someone started shooting off fireworks. Copper stopped in his tracks and wouldn't go any farther. Then there were 2 people putting on new roofs (we are in Florida and there are a lot of folks re-roofing because of hurricane damage...we will have ours done next week.) and he didn't like that either. I just picked him up and kept walking and asking him "what was that?" and acting as if it didn't faze me. After we got buy all of that, I put him down and he started walking again. The big thing, I think is not to cradle them and shelter them, but to act as if it doesn't bother you...then it probably won't bother them either. That is what a lot of the yorkie books that I have read said.
