Personally, I don't find the advice on her given being mean, harsh or cruel. Imagine how many people read this and not post. Hopefully all the wonderful advice and information (harsh or not) provided will hit home to some folks.
I don't believe in sugar-coating the truth either. I guess I am just too opiniated or blunt. Possibly even to outspoken at times but I consider it better than hypocritical or trying to be a people pleaser. I have the feeling I am not the only one though and kuddos to those who dare say it how it is
