I have been on weight watchers since August 2006. I have lost 49.6 lbs. Woohoo! I have 29 more lbs to go. I agree that it really is the way to go, because they are teaching you what to eat with real food. Nothing is off limits. You just have to decide if the extra points are worth it or not.

My friend and I started together and that has really helped. I think we keep each other motivated. We committed one year out of our life for this. We told ourselves at the begining that one year is nothing. Just a drop in the bucket. We are really working on being lifetime members.

I can tell you that the 1st 2-3 wks was the worst for me. I was hungry all the time. I finally learned somethings to keep the hunger at bay:

1. Always eat a protein with a carborhydrate
(cheese and crackers, yogurt and cereal, cheese and fruit, peanut butter and crackers, ect..)
2. Eat mini meals. I eat meals (except for dinner) that are between 2 - 4 points. I eat about every 2 hours. during a meal, I have to remind myself that the portion may be small, but I get to eat again in 2 hours.
3. I have Saturday as a "free day". I don't go over board, but I do eat what I want (pretty much) I will limit some real fattening foods, but if I want a glass of wine or a dessert, I will allow myself that. (Keeps me feeling from deprived)
4. Try to excerise 4 x week. (I bought a threadmill)
5. If I overindulge, I never beat myself up, I erase that day (figuratively) and start up again where I left off.
6. our motto "Nothing tastes as good as thin feels"!
7. Force yourself to eat all your veggies and fruit.

I highly recommend the Weight Watcher cookbooks. It really helped me learn how to cook again. I also worked on building a whole new repetoire of menus (since all the old ones were fattening). Now that I have new favorites I will cook those again and again.

If you are:

The New Complete Cookbook - 3 Ring Binder. This has replaced my Betty Crocker Cookbook

Weight Watchers Simply the Best - this one is full of comfort food type recipes

Weight Watcher Meals in Minutes - And this really is very quick delicous meals.

I can also tell you that I have not made a recipe yet that was not really quite good. My husband did not like all of them, but it's more a preference of food rather than the dish not being good.

I have plenty more tips if you need them.
