My German Shep. had tape worms last summer. I didn't even know it until they had gotten bad enough to where she pooped in the house and I could visibly see them. The vet told me it was from eating animals. My Shep. has been known to catch and eat a rabbit or two. Most of the other types of worms I was told that you can't visibly see them in the stools. Most just pass eggs through their stools and noticeable with the naked eye. If you are concerned you can take a fresh stool sample and drop it off at your vet. They will then give you the results and medicene. Minimal cost that way.
