yeah i figured that too. about the solid color but thats what i made a bib and burp cloth with so i just continued.

thank you I have not gone to any sites for help. I have just bought books and called my sister if I couldn't figure something out. I will certainly check that out.
here is the swatch made with regular yarn. I dont' have any solid color cotton right now or I would have made a washcloth.
I had to take this pic without a flash. the yellow is too bright with a flash so close. I should have taken photography lessons instead of sitting here learning to knit.
