I have been considering getting JoJo a playmate since he loves to interact and play with other dogs but I have encountered several who are independent and do not really want to bother with another dog.
When I visited my mother for two weeks I was so excited that her friend had a two year old Yorkie. Well the friend was right when she said he probably would not want to play and was very independent. He wanted nothing to do with JoJo. Recently I dog sat for my neighbor's Maltese and was hopeful for JoJo as well but this dog also had a very independent personality and did not want to play.
If I get another dog, I am doing it so JoJo will have a playmate. In the meantime he gets all the attention and love and sitting in my lap that he wants! If you want your dogs to play, why don't you see how they get along together before committing yourself? Or maybe you want another dog for yourself regardless if they interact and then it might not matter.
The majority of owners with more than one Yorkie seem to be thrilled with them but there are also posts about Yorkies living together who do not get along so be careful.
