You wouild be wise to put any agreement in writing. Even if you both just want a puppy then the contract should state that, and what happens in the case there is only one living puppy, or no living puppies. Who gets the first choice if you both want the same puppy.

Please take the time to write down everything and both sign it and both get a copy. It will save a lot of grief in the future.

Just as good fences make good neighbors, so do good contracts make good neighbors.

It does not have to be written by a lawyer, just write down everything that you agree on and sign it.
