I think that is great advice. My 2 Yorkie girls are well socialized; I encouraged friends to "visit" with them right from the beginning, pick them up, cuddle them. Both dogs are People Pups and do not act afraid or nervous around others.

One thing I do find useful if I take my littles girl Mango out in her bag - I place a pig's ear in there with her. I swear it acts as a pacifier, and she is quite happy chewing away while Mommy takes her out and about. I also keep some kibble on me and sneak a few into her bag if she gets antsie.
