You lot and your "opinions" about breeding have just put me right off this site which I have only just joined !
I can't believe you all get
so argumentative about those wishing to breed who are not "show" people.
They say show people are a nightmare, and I can see why that is often said !
Apart from puppy farmers and people over breeding pups to get a show dog they like, I cannot see the harm in caring pet owners with nothing but good intentions, who have read up on the matter, having the odd litter for the benefit of prospective pet owners, and overseen by a good vet. Obviously you wouldn't breed from an unhealthy dog, likewise should you be charging such exhorbitant prices or not checking prospective new owners.
If show people really have the benefit of being better than others in the quality of the pups they breed, then why do they charge such ridiculously huge prices for their puppies with no actual guarantee of a healthy dog. Put your money where your mouth is and sell those puppies cheaper ! Afterall, you aren't in it for the money, are you !
Advice is fine, but it should be given nicely to those who are learning, and you should not tar everyone with the same brush of assuming that non registered pups or pet breeders are bad people only doing it for profit with no care or concern about healthy pups and parents, and where they end up.
There is good and bad in all walks of life.
The breed standard for example insists on some breeds having snub noses which cause life-long breathing problems and misery for those dogs - so even that is not always right, is it ! ....but many of us would still give one of those poor dogs a home from a rehoming centre wouldn't we - even with it's health problems !
We should all concentrate on loving every Yorkie for itself, and give it the best of healthcare and the best loving home for however long it lives...you can invest love in those that won't be blessed with a long life.
It reminds me of those who say that no disabled people should have, or deserve, a life. That makes me very angry considering the only child I have been
very blessed to have, has Autistic Spectrum Disorder. I give her the best life I can, and she repays me and everyone around her with bucket-loads of love and enjoyment........
......as do those IMPERFECT YORKIES !
Good luck to everyone who loves their Yorkies.....that is all that should really matter - good intentions.
So no more fighting !!! DEBRA
