Im not even sure if puppies with problems can be akc registered. i was told by a friend that they couldnt be. And my puppy is supposed to be registerable. I dont think the breeder I got the dog from is all that good, but i feel so sorry for the puppy I cant/wont return her. she wouldnt have gotten the puppy the surgery if I had taken her back and then the puppy would have suffered for life. I think thats awful i just want to know how many more of her dogs are suffering right now. and i also have another question when i talked to her on teh phone last she said she was reigsted with some bredding program as a hobby breeder which meant she could have up to 10 breeding females what kind of registeration is that or is there even one? I didnt know 10 breeding females would be considered a hobby seeems like an awful lot to me.
If in your opinion, she is not a good breeder, she likely would resell as is to whoever would buy it not mentioning the eye problem.
There is no hobby breeder program except there could be one in her county or town she lives in, AKC doesn't have anything like that.
You can register it with the AKC, AKC doesn't care. BUt I would never use her for breeding.
You could perhaps, once you get her registered and they will, send a copy to the AKC of the Vet report about the eye and also send a copy of the Vet report to the breeder by registered mail. You can then let the AKC know that you have informed the breeder and also tell them of your experience with the breeder.
I have no idea if the AKC will care or not, they may possibly decide to do an inspection which they can do.
I personally have seen so few genetic eye problems in Yorkies there really is no excuse to breed and have it in puppies.
