Welcome Cal & Quincy!! What a little sweetheart he is! His eyes look so sad ... I'll bet they will look happy in no time at all! Congratulations ... what a lucky boy to have been so fortunate and found someone with such a big heart. Once he "gets it" that there are great people who won't mistreat him, I'll bet you will never have a more loyal friend! We found that patience and consistency was the key for training Toto ... she has never been mistreated, she just has that stubborn Yorkie personality! We used the reward method for training to the wee wee pad which takes a lot of attention but was certainly "rewarding" for us once she got the idea! She is over 17 months now and still occasionally has an "accident" but it's always due to something being "amiss" in her little world so we try to be very forgiving! The first thing we did was to teach her the word "no" ... doesn't have to be loud nor do you have to scream or hit!! Just needs to be firm and they are so very anxious to please their "human" that once they understand, all you have to do is tell him "no" in a conversational tone and he will understand! At least, it works for Toto!! Good luck and keep us posted!
