We have an electric collar for one of our non-yorkie dogs, and the instructions said not to use on a dog smaller than 7 lbs. I know they work well, as many people around here have them, but I've only seen them on big dogs. The underground fence and wire fence things are both based on zapping the dog if he gets past your boundary: it's a shock collar -- don't let the labels fool you. "Tingling sensation" is what ours said. Never said shock anywhere in the instructions. (We knew when we bought it that it was a shock collar ... ) Anyway, I would be afraid to put any ANY collar on a yorkie -- especially seeing Dean's neck is, like, as small as a newborn baby's wrist. Now, on our 30 lb terrier mix, it's like tapping him on the head to get his attention w/the collar b/c he's so wild. So, unless they have one that only emits noise or vibrates, I would say no way!
