I think her response was fair
and I'm glad it all worked out in your favor. Also, as far as the price maybe her vet gives her a special deal because they have an arrangment. If she is not far and is willing to pay 100% for her vet to do it, I would go for it! Just make sure whichever vet your baby ends up going to is familiar with the procedure on a Yorkie or other small doggie.
