Default insurance

I have a yorkie who has a lactating petella which doesn't really hurt him but he was diagnosed with it. I also have a Maltese with hip dysplasia he limps a lot and surgery was considered a last resort option.

Since these are already diagnosed does this mean if I get pet insurance now it won't be covered?

Well these conditions your yorkies have are considered pre-exsisting,so with that being said I am pretty sure u will not be covered for the luxating patella & hip dysplasia. Call around and ask questions. I just recently took out a policy with Embrace Pet Insurance about a month ago. If you enroll and get a orthopedic exam and a yrs worth of medical records they will tell u what will not be covered.

I have VPI insurance on my 3 girls and they do not cover hereditary or pre existing conditions. One of mine had surgery for luxating Patella and it was denied. I would research some of the other carriers and see if they will cover it.

What about those financial assistance websites. How does it work, you borrow the money and pay them back or how would it work out?

Have you tried looking into Care Credit? You fill out the application on-line. Just make sure the place the surgery is going to take place at accepts Care Credit.

just checked into it and it doesn't cover the vet I go to.
I don;t mind saving for his surgery but I figured if Insurance would cover it I can get some of my money back it was worth asking. Thank your for the suggestion.
