Default Is it possible to potty train an older dog...or 3?

I have a Yorkie, a Yorkie poo, and a Maltese. They are 2, 5, and 7 years in age. The youngest is neutured, the two older ones are not. I have been struggling with this for awhile, but with the addition of the 3rd in a very small house (my sons dog who he could no longer care for...I never would have had three...way too much work) it is too much. They have ruined my carpet which I am getting ready to replace with laminate and am praying they will not go on that. I did remove the carpet in a couple of rooms and they have not gone on the hardwood but maybe one time. I love my dogs, but I am tired of them ruining my house, not to mention, I am afraid it smells and know it is unsanitary. The youngest one still has to get up a couple of time in the night. My dh takes her out at 12 and then again at 5 (he works nights) but many times she cant make it that long, and I have to go outside at 3 or 4. I am sleep deprived and even that is not stopping them from going inside. I never leave them the run of the house when we are gone...they are gated in the kitchen, and hardly any accidents in there. Is it too late to train them?
Will replacing the carpet (which despite numerous cleanings Im sure has a urine odor) maybe stop this? What is normal for these little dogs? Shouldnt they be able to go at least 5 or 6 hrs through the night without going? I am desperate! Is it too late to use crates? Any resources I would be so appreciative. Thanks.
