Until she is trained to COME then I wouldn't walk her off lead. Come means to stop what you are doing return to the person telling you to come and wait for further instructions -- without fail, 100% of the time. I am ashamed to admit it, but my dogs "come" when called because they are in the mood for a yummie delicious Yorkie Yummie. They do not COME because they respect the command, therefore they are not allowed in situations where they lives might depend upon them obeying the come command.
Yorkies and COME can be quite a challenge. These super intelligent terriers were bred to be independent.
As far as the kitties go, I don't have any good ideas. My first thought would be that when Mr. Kitty gets tired of being chased, he will give your Yorkie furdaughter a good swat and teach her some manners. The backside is that your little girl might wind up with a scratched eye. |
