I bought a pattern from Hobby Lobby - Simplicity 3925, but I rarely use it. Once I got the basic idea, I just changed it to suite me for what I wanted my girl to have in whatever fabric I had on hand. I have made several dresses from scratch and altered some baby dresses and baby doll dresses to fit Summerlin.

As for the bows - my pattern has these two sets of directions. There is not a pattern to cut out, just directions to follow.

1. Cut a piece of ribbon 9" (23 cm) long and tie into a bow. Tack a small floral applique to the bow at the knot. Notch out the ends of the ribbon. Hand sew the bow to a small barrette.
*** The kind of barrette they show in the picture is like a little girl's barrette - the plastic kind with the little teeth on it to grip the hair.

2. Cut a piece of ribbon 7" (18 cm) long and tie into a bow. Handsew a small ribbon rosette to the bow at the knot. Hand sew the bow to a small ponytail holder.

It also has suggestions for hand sewing:
1) a ribbon rosette to a small barrette or pony tail holder.
2) a heart shaped bead to a small piece of marabou feather trim, and then hand sew the feather trim to a barrette or pony tail holder.
3) a button to the knot of the bow, and then hand sew the bow to a barrette or pony tail holder.

Hope this helps I haven't made any bows, since Summerlin doesn't have enough hair to hold one, I have no use for them yet... Maybe that day will come
