Once they start marking it is a very, very hard habit to break. Neutering may or may not totally eliminate his behavior. It may simply decrease it or not change it at all. I once knew of a dog that was neutered at 2 years old and still continued to mark, even a year later. Another one was neutered at 4 years old and it never broke the habit. You could try keeping him in belly bands for the time being until you do neuter him even after there is no guarantee he will stop.
