Actually the top part rests just below the shoulder blades and underneath the harness it has a X shape that fits center of the chest between the 2 front legs.(think of ladies cross your heart bra design) It never comes near the neck because the front shoulders hold it in place. Those aren't very good pictures, but all I had at the time. I am working on my own website to allow more pictures with better detail. I photographed my boy wearing a pink lace harness recently but the look on his face is definitely not nice! Probably because it was a girls harness, LOL.
The harness doesn't touch his neck at all.
