Now is the perfect time to teach commands. Trainers say that using mental energy is as tiring for a dog as is using physical energy. Does he already know the basics - sit, down, come, stay? If not, start with those. If so, teach tricks.
Scatter his kibble at mealtime so that he has to search for it.
Going for car rides also helps entertain Joey when we can't get out.
