my morgan was spayed at 6 months and she was about 3 lbs (also micro-chipped and had 6 teeth pulled). me and my vet were confident that she was going to be fine. I did no pre-op blood work because honestly its unneccessary unless you have prior problems. I used to work as a tech in my vets hospital and was 100% confident in his abilities to spay a small puppy. I'd seem him do it many many many times.

So as long as your pup is healthy and there are no problems i say go for it. however if your vet is saying wait, then maybe he isn't too sure of his own abilities to spay at such a tiny weight. maybe go get a second opinion somewhere else. your choice.
