What I do is gently fold the ear in half the long way and very gently wrap the tape at the base. With those little ears it goes up high.
To remove I very carefully cut the tape and as carefully as I can...remove it.
I also shave the ears first.

My poor little baby looks like a Flying Nun.... my parents had to tape and massage their dogs ears (its a doberman) but they had it like Sugar's Mom is describing how she does it.
