I believe it is all in how you teach your children. My grandchildren come ove and they know they have to sit on the floor to play with the puppies. They know they cannot rough house with the dogs around.

If the want to play rough the dogs are put in a gated area. After all kids do have to play.

As someone posted a long time ago, they over heard their son tell a friend, if you hurt my mom's dogs, she'll hurt you.

It's not different than bringing a new baby home when you have toddlers and preschoolers. You don't allow the older children to hit the baby over the head, or pick it up, or run around when the baby is on the floor.
