I'm all for banning tail docking. They've got lovely tails - swishing behind them like big banners. There's a bill before select committee here too. I hope it's passed. They're no longer working dogs - in that they are not sent down rat holes - so there is no rationale for docking them. Aside from aesthetic - which, to me at least, is not a reason to go surgically altering an animal. I think the arguments put forward by Kennel Clubs everywhere are specious.
I know others on this site disagree but that is my honest feeling on the matter.
Dougal's not docked and I love his tail. Dixie was docked before I knew about her - if I had been in contact with the breeder before she was born I would have said leave the tail. |
