But since I've had Archie, the sadness around not being a mother has lessened (which, I guess, is a good thing!). I just wonder if it's normal to have such a strong maternal feeling for an animal. Uggh! I can't even stand to call him an animal -- he's my BABY!!!
My granddaughter's new Yorkie, Sammy, is certainly being treated like a new baby and loved beyond anything some people could understand. She was a member of the family before she came to their home and her every want and need is anticipated and met. I belong to a Bichon List and this comment is made every day - these little dogs are our furkids and we love them just like family. Love is so normal and healthy and who could keep from loving these sweet little dogs, be they Yorkies or Bichons (or great danes or golden retrievers or mastiffs)? So many of the comments on the Yorkie forum sound just like the comments on the Bichon List. It's just impossible to love them more than they love us. You can't get a deal like that anywhere else!
