I'm single, over 40 and have never had children -- something about which I've always been sad. But since I've had Archie, the sadness around not being a mother has lessened (which, I guess, is a good thing!). I just wonder if it's normal to have such a strong maternal feeling for an animal. Uggh! I can't even stand to call him an animal -- he's my BABY!!! |
Yes, you are psycho and so am I, but not to worry!

I have had 3 human sons, but feel the same. I never dreamed I could feel like this about dogs. I have always had dogs and loved them, but more as dogs. Yorkies need another species to belong to -- they are just a special part of the family! I don't like saying "my dogs" when referring to Ben and Sadie either -- they are just a whole lot more! (Of course they pee on the floor just often enough to keep me grounded.)
