I had to put down my big girl, German Shepard (really, my mom did, I didn't even have a chance to say goodbye)... But she was almost 16 yrs old and very sick, already after one surgery and suffering seizures to the point she was hurting most of the time she was awake... That would be the only ocassion I'd ever put a dog to sleep, when the dog is sick and there's nothing to be done for it to stop suffering. But a healthy 8 year old? Even if the dogs have behavioral problems, people should be willing to work them out. I can't imagine...
