You can study their lines but the only way to know if they compliment each other is to do a test breeding. If the match doesn't produce what you want you do not repeat that breeding. I'm not sure how reputable a club CKC is but the pup in question is probably just a throwback from an ancester. I had a half brother to Connor once that grew to 12.5 lbs. the breeder didn't repeat that breeding. You just never know!
