You can get tops for the x-pens. I would try that.
Oh yea, have you tried spraying the bitter apple spray on the carpet to see if it will deter her? Some of my dogs HATE it and leave things alone once it's been sprayed on but Forest seems to like it.. So, you don't know till you try it!
