I can understand not wanting to do the test but I disagree that there is not that much heartworm in the midwest. My vet has a poster up that she gets each year showing the numbers of victims and in what areas they are in. Surprisingly enough Chicago has more that the suburbs. That has to be because there are a lot more disadvantage people within the city limits and they can barely purchase everything the need for themselves let alone their dogs.

Another reason I disagree is because we had a dog come to us already infected. It was very expensive to treat and he was miserable.

I'm not happy about it and I worry about it but I will have Adie on meds from April to December and I will have her tested just to be on the safe side just like the other two pooches in the family.

Just my thoughts.
