Chihuahuas have "moleras," or open fontanels, about 90% of the time. Some never close. As long as the dog doesn't fall on his head, or have a solid object drop on his head there won't be any problems. You do have to be careful (as is the case with small breeds anyway), but you don't need to worry constantly. When was the last time you dropped something on your dog anyway? I've never.
