Ah, I understand -- it is nice to be loved, especially when we carve out such a big space in our hearts for these little ones.
3 of our 4 sit with my husband when he is in his chair. The 4th is not a cuddler and prefers her independence (a dachshund). I was hoping the Yorkies would be MY lap dogs, but they gradually have just steered over to my husband. My mom and dad have the same situation. My mom and I have a theory. They love everyone the same but the men seem to stay seated longer. We are always jumping up and down to get something, do all those little jobs that require us not to sit still long. They learn where they will be undisturbed the longest. So, I finally got past feeling abandoned. They are just as happy to see me when I return and give me lots and lots of attention/puppy kisses. But once the evening winds down, they all find their way to my husband. He is now glad I got him that humongous chair and ottoman. LOL! |
