Mine have never been big chewers of things they shouldn't chew -- except for wicker, but for the couple of things they did start chewing on --- chair and table leg -- the bitter apple worked well. They really prefer their bullly sticks and flossies.
Their trainer at Petsmart suggested Listerine ---the original flavor. She keeps some in a spray bottle and used it during one class for a puppy who kept chewing on his leash. She just sprayed some on the leash and it worked like a charm. At the next class the owner said she had used the Listerine at home and it worked on other things the puppy had been chewing on and he had completely stopped the leash chewing. Must taste even worse to dogs than humans.
